Admission Process

Applications for the current semester are accepted at any time. Please compile the following documents into a PDF file and send your application to the GSDE coordinator, Dr. Tobias Schwörer: tobias.schwoerer@belearn.swiss.  

Application documents:

• Letter of motivation (max. 2 pages)
• Curriculum vitae (max. 2 pages)
• Project description of the PhD project (max. 5 pages)
• Letter of recommendation from the supervisor
• Confirmation of enrollment at the University of Bern for regular members (can be submitted later)
• Confirmation of enrollment at another university for associate members (can be submitted later)
• Signed doctoral agreement (only for regular members, can be submitted later) 

After the commission has reviewed your written application, you will receive our decision. Admissions take place at the beginning of the semester, retroactively depending on the date of the commission meeting. Courses already attended at the GSDE prior to admission will be credited. Credit for other courses may also be possible under certain circumstances. To discuss this, please make an appointment with the GSDE coordinator, Dr. Tobias Schwörer.
