GSDE Autumn Retreat

Thursday, 15.10.2026 - Saturday, 17.10.2026

Castle Münchenwiler

From 15 to 17 October 2026, the first autumn retreat of the Graduate School Digitality and Education (GSDE) will take place at Schloss Münchenwiler. The retreat also marks the launch event of the newly established Graduate School.

The retreat will focus on the doctoral projects of the participating PhD students. They will have the opportunity to present their research projects, discuss open questions, and receive differentiated feedback from their peers, the professors present, and the invited expert, Prof. Mutlu Cukurova. In this way, the retreat creates a space for academic exchange, critical reflection, and the further development of the individual research projects.

The thematic focus of this year’s retreat is “The Future of Artificial Intelligence in Education.” Discussions will address not only technological developments and possible applications, but also pedagogical, societal, and ethical questions: How is AI changing teaching and learning? What new forms of collaboration between humans and digital systems are emerging? What competencies do teachers, learners, and educational institutions need when engaging with AI? And how can research contribute to shaping digital transformation in education in a critical, responsible, and future-oriented way?

With the autumn retreat, the GSDE begins its first academic year. The event offers doctoral students the opportunity to become part of an interdisciplinary research community, build connections, and refine their projects in dialogue with different perspectives.
